Shockwave therapy is quickly becoming the gold standard for treating erectile dysfunction (ED) and musculoskeletal pain (MSK) because of its many benefits. Along with having an excellent cost vs effectiveness ratio, this treatment is non-invasive and requires no anesthesia. New research and the growing popularity of shockwave therapy in orthopaedics, rehabilitation, and sport medicine, prove competitive athletes through to retired gold enthusiasts can find relief with this advanced treatment.
After each of your shockwave therapy sessions, you can return to most regular activities immediately. Some temporary soreness or swelling may be experienced for the first couple days post-treatment, but this is expected as the shockwaves stimulate an inflammatory response to naturally heal the treatment area. Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medication post-treatment as it can slow down the recovery process.
Those with circulation or nerve disorders; open wounds; pregnant or breastfeeding; deep vein thrombosis; infection; bone tumour or a metabolic bone condition; should not use shockwave therapy. Shockwave therapy actually uses sound waves to penetrate deeply into treatment area tendons to cause a mechanical irritation. This will cause your body to perceive the sensation as an injury and respond by sending growth factors to the treatment site, restore smooth muscle cells (restore tissue elasticity) and increase blood flow (Angiogenesis). Despite its name, shockwave therapy does not use shocks, but actually uses sound waves. The treatment produces a mild sensation in the treatment area but is not described by clients as painful. At most, you may feel some tightness during your shockwave therapy session, but will experience immediate relief post-treatment.
As a general rule of thumb, substantial results will be experienced after four to six treatments of shockwave therapy, one treatment per week. This, of course, will vary based on the individual.
After the first round of sessions, we will enter a waiting period of four to six weeks as the shockwaves will continue to take effect at a cellular level. After the wait period, we are able to reassess and determine if additional maintence treatments are required.
Sylfirm X treatment length is highly dependent on the individual and treatment area. The actual treatment typically takes approximately 20 to 45 minutes; however, clients can expect a consultation before their first treatment.
We recommend our clients complete a minimum series of three Sylfirm X treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Depending on the skin concern, a series of up to six treatments may be recommended. During your complimentary consultation, our Elegance skin care experts will better be able to provide a treatment plan customized to you and your goals. Most clients report being an immediate improvement of skin tone and texture, with the collagen regeneration only increasing result visibility for three months after the final treatment.
Sylfirm X RF Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that involves the skin rejuvenating through natural processes. Clients may experience redness, dryness and peeling—all which are completely normal and part of the process. Within seven days following your treatment, your skin should make a full recovery.
It’s important that you stay out of direct sunlight for at least 48 hours after your Sylfirm treatment and apply an SPF 30 or greater. Avoid strenuous activities, saunas, other facials and swimming while the skin heals. Avoid touching your face and be extremely gently when cleansing. Replace your pillow case with a fresh one after your treatment to avoid dirt and bacteria effecting the skin. Full post-treatment care instructions will be provided at the time of your first treatment.
Every individual is different, but the accelerated collagen production achieved with the Sylfirm X will continue for at least three month after your final treatment.
Most clients describe Sylfirm X treatments as comfortable over painful. There is often a slight feeling of pressure or tingling sensation associated with the treatment depending on the depth and area being treated. A topical numbing cream can be used to maximize comfort levels, but is often not needed.

The number of thermocoagulation treatments required varies based on individual and the skin anomaly being treated; however, typically our clients see optimal results with one to three treatments. Thermocoagulation treatments for skin anomalies are extremely efficient, typically taking between five and fifteen minutes. Please note that your first treatment with the Elegance Sculpting team will be slightly longer to also include a consultation.
This is a completely non-invasive procedure that is relatively painless. The mild energy currents may cause a slight pricking sensation, but is often not described as painful.
Thermocoagulation is considered a lunchtime treatment, meaning there is little to no downtime required. It is extremely important that the micro-crust or scabs that form are not touched or removed. They will fall off on their own within three and 21 days, when the body has completed the healing process. Please note, treatment areas closer to the heart, heal faster. For instance, skin anomalies on the legs will take longer to heal. If the treated skin anomaly is on the face, cleanse the area gently using fingers and a mild facial cleanser. You may still wear makeup over the treatment area, but be gentle. Avoid any facials until the natural healing process has been completed. If the treatment area feels irritated or hot, apply a cold compress. Refrain from any strenuous physical activity, tanning beds, saunas, swimming pools or baths for 48 hours to ensure optimal healing. Apply a moisturizing heading cream four to five times a day. As always, wear an SPF of 30 or more over the treatment area.
This treatment is approved and proven to be an extremely safe treatment with minimal risk of heat blisters, hyperpigmentation or scarring post-treatment. Our team at Elegance has completed the certifications with the strictest standards of hygiene and safety to ensure our clients have complete confidence before, during and after their treatments. Using high frequency currents, our thermocoagulation VascuLyse 2G RF technology is able to pin point heat energy to unwanted skin imperfection. The thermal lesion produced from this process leads to the nearly immediate elimination of the imperfect (or vein) while leaving the epidermis unharmed. The dilated section of the capillary being treated is first coagulated to solidify the blood. With the blood for interrupted at the treatment section, it will be redirected to neighbouring capillaries. Post-treatment, clients are typically will see a circular red mark at the treatment site which will turn into a micro-crust. Once this micro-crust sheds (typically within three to 21 days, do not pick at it early), the skin will heal with little risk of scarring. This is a permeant treatment.
Do not get your brows wet for 24 hours after your brow lamination (like proven Legally Blonde, this is grounds for incarceration). After that, each time you are in the shower use hair conditioner on your brows to help maintain the health of your brows (the chemicals used can be drying). Each time you wash your face or get your brows wet, use a brow brush to push the hairs upward to help maintain your new lifted shape.
- Women who are breast-feeding or pregnant (due to the chemicals used)
- Individuals who suffer from eczema or dermatitis
- Individuals with little to no brow hair
Side effects of brow lamination are not common; however, skin irritation caused by the chemicals can occur. If any redness, peeling, itching, bumps or skin sensitivity should occur, they will likely subside in a couple days.

There is no downtime associated with brow lamination, a welcomed change from its alternative of microblading which requires over two weeks of downtime. However brow lamination is just like with any perm; you’ll need to avoid getting your eyebrow hair wet for at least 24 hours.
Brow lamination can range from $50 for the base treatment and up to $90 or more for the often recommended brow lamination, shape and tint combination.
Please avoid any facial waxing for the two weeks leading up to your dermaplaning treatment at Elegance Sculpting. For the five days prior to your treatment, avoid exfoliating the treatment area and excessive sun exposure. If you have an extreme breakout the day of your scheduled dermaplaning treatment, we kindly ask you to reschedule to avoid aggravation and possible infection.
Dermaplaning removes 3 weeks worth of dead skin cells in one treatment. We recommend waiting at least 4 to 6 weeks before scheduling your next treatment.

A dermaplaning treatment ranges between $120 and $170 in Parksville, BC.
Dermaplaning involves using a medical-grade scalpel to gently scrape away the epidermis, or top layer of your skin, along with the small hairs commonly known as peach fuzz. This is a completely manual exfoliation treatment and should be performed by a licensed esthetician. Typically, treatments take between 15 and 30 minutes and are often combined with a secondary treatment due to its priming benefits—dermaplaning increases absorption and treatment effectiveness for chemical peels, facials and laser treatments.
Luckily, the HELIOS IV 785™ is a lot more comfortable than traditional laser tattoo removal (some of you reading this may have even tried older technology and stopped because of the pain). With our technology at Elegance, the treatments (which can range from 20-40 minutes depending on the size of your tattoo) feel more comparable to the flick of an elastic band. Prior to beginning your treatment, a topical numbing agent can be applied to help reduce any discomfort. Some of our clients opt for this, and some are fine without—it is totally personal preference.
Yes! This is an advanced treatment that requires you follow the post-care instructions of your technician. During your consultation or first session, your laser technician will review all of the post-care instructions in detail—some of the instructions may cause you to alter your daily activity for two to three weeks after each session and one week before your next one, which booked after 6-8 weeks. This advanced treatment requires you to follow the instructions for best results and to avoid scarring and other negative side effects. As the process includes naturally scabbing, be mindful when you begin your treatment. For example, if you have a wedding coming up, give yourself at least a month prior to heal.
After each session, you’ll need to keep the area cool to reduce irruption. This could mean using a cold compress on the area for an hour or two post treatment, but also means staying out of the direct sun, hot tubs or saunas.
For the first 48 hours, you’ll need to keep the area completely dry. Warm showers are permitted after 48 hours as long as the area is gently washed with uncounted soap.
The natural process that your body goes through post-treatment will involve scabbing. We recommend utilizing aftercare ointment (coconut oil, vitamin E, etc.) to keep the area fully moisturized.
Direct sunlight of the treatment area should be avoided as much as possible throughout the entire process. The treated skin will be more sensitive to the sun’s powerful rays and exposure could lead to burning, sun damage or scarring. If direct sunlight cannot be avoided, be diligent with reapplying your SPF of 30 or greater every hour.
You’ll also want to stay hydrated throughout your entire laser tattoo removal treatment. There are so many! At Elegance, we strive to provide the latest and most advanced technology on the market and that includes the HELIOS IV 785™. The HELIOS series (which launched in 2003 with its first laser) is sold and used in more than 50 countries around the world due to its effectiveness and efficiency. While traditional lasers uses a single wavelength (1064nm), the HELIOS IV 785™ utilizes its 4G toning system, which offers four modes (Black/Blue/Red/Green) and three wavelengths (1064nm/785nm/532nm) to effectively treat a variety of coloured pigments at various depths. When choosing the HELIOS IV 785™, you can expect reduced discomfort, boosted effectiveness and confidence that this laser is safer for all skin types.
The number of laser tattoo removal sessions required for tattoo removal varies depending on the size and age of the tattoo, colour of ink and the individual’s lifestyle. Typically, we see significant to complete fading of tattoos between 7 and 10 sessions. Since laser tattoo removal provides progressive results, optimal fading will be seen two to three weeks after your final session. Depending on your final desired results we can customize a treatment plan for you. For example, some clients simply would like to get a new tattoo in the same location and require fading or partial removal of specific parts of their unwanted tattoo.
Cryotherapy has been reported to burn 500-800 calories post-treatment due to the body being tricked into “freezing” mode and working that much harder to heat the body up.
While the Cryotherapy chamber is a small space, your head remains out of the chamber for the entirety of the 2-3 minute treatment. Your technician will also stay with you throughout the treatment to ensure you are comfortable.
While your skin will return to its regular temperature within minutes, you will feel the benefits of Cryotherapy for the day/s to come—you will likely feel energized while your muscles will feel rejuvenated. You are free to return to your normal, daily routine immediately post treatment. Many athletes will complete their Cryotherapy sessions prior to working out for better performance. We do however recommend waiting 4-6 hours prior to entering a sauna or any extreme heat environments.
Cryotherapy involved extreme, cold temperatures. Individuals who have untreated high or low blood pressure, are pregnant, have a pacemaker or struggle with poor circulation should not attempt treatment. As with any new treatment, please consult your family doctor.
Some professional athletes do up to two Cryotherapy session per day; however, please consult your family doctor and technician.
We recommend keeping your socks on in addition to the provided slippers. We will also provide you with a rope for your treatment, however most clients will wear their undergarments.

All proper precautions are taken for a safe session by using single-use tools, and a completely clean and sanitized environment. Should clients follow our pre and post care instructions, there should be minimal risks or complications. Yes! A touch-up session after 6-8 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during the first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment colour may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch-up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when I refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the colour for the whole year! Remember, Microblading can be a 2-3 step procedure depending on skin type.
Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade over time. Microblading typically lasts 1-1.5 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: patients who tan uses products with AHA or Glycolic Acid, work out a lot, have certain medical conditions etc. with fade faster as your skin will resurface faster. Each individual’s colour retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 6-12 months. Clients can let the microblade area fade over time, but please note a slight shadow may remain.
The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none. Prior to the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied to the brows to numb the area and also reapplied during the procedure. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure has been described as light cat scratches to not feeling anything. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine. After the procedure, there may be some redness and slight swelling, this is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients can take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.

The eyebrow area may be slightly red after the procedure and colour will appear very dark. This is a totally normal part of the healing process. The colour will fade and the brow will shrink by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microblade area. The eyebrows will lighten up in colour as it heals. No downtime is required after a microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the colour to fully set in. You’ll notice the colour is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True colour will reveal itself once healed.
No!! Touch up sessions will not be performed any earlier than 4 weeks after the initial microblading session as pigment colour has not fully settled into the skin. Most importantly, this is to prevent scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.
For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 1.5-2 hours. During this session, A desired shape and style will be designed for client approval. Then an appropriate pigment will be chosen for the right skin type and tone. Once the client is satisfied with the brow design and pigment colour, The procedure can be started.
The client is to come in for a follow-up visit in order to have any minor necessary touch ups. The second Microblading session takes place after 6-8 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete.
This is varies from person to person however, we tend to recommend every four to six weeks to start. Our naturopath, Dr. Jesin, will work with you to monitor progress and reassess where needed.
Nutrient levels tend to remain elevated for between two and three weeks post IV Vitamin Drip Therapy treatment.
IV Vitamin Drip Therapy treatment lengths are dependent on the size of bag chosen: 250 mL bags take approximately 40-60 minutes wile 100 mL bags take approximately 20-40 minutes. We recommend bringing a book, enjoying some Netflix or even taking a nap!
Although you will see results in as little as one treatment, to experience the most optimal results over time from the Microneedling process it is best to endure a series of treatments. We recommend three treatments, as that is when you will see the best results.
There are no serious side effects of the Microneedling procedure that you should be concerned about. Typically patients will notice redness of the skin for a few hours after the treatment, and some with sensitive skin might experience minimal bleeding. Both are normal reactions to the skin once the procedure is complete.

Here are a few things that you should do to prepare for your consultation and your microneedling appointment:

- Ensure that you are drinking enough water to stay hydrated during the procedure
- Discuss the ways to eliminate any discomfort that you may experience during the procedure
- Avoid any direct sunlight approximately 24 hours prior to your treatment
There are many benefits of the microneedling procedure, including but not limited to; increasing the production of collagen to strengthen and plump your skin, improving the look of scars, clearing signs of rosacea and eliminating wrinkles or sun damage. Microneedling can also help your at-home skin care treatments, the small punctures in the skin can increase absorption, which helps the products work in a more efficient way.
Each individual’s pain tolerance is different, therefore some might experience discomfort during the invasive procedure, and others may think that this process is painful. To eliminate any discomfort we offer numbing cream that can be applied on the targeted area prior to the treatment.
The duration of the Microneedling procedure will depend on the area that is being treated, but on average the procedure typically takes around 30 minutes to complete.
During the first 12 hours after your spray tan, the bronzer may slightly rub off on lighter clothing and sheets. If it does being a natural sugar based solution it will wash out very easily.
Do not shower for 12 hours after your spray tan! Final results won’t be seen until after you have your first shower.
Your tan can last between 5-10 days, depending on how often you maintain your skin care such as moisturizing. Ask us about our face and body lotion extenders for purchase at your appointment. These extenders will help you extend your tan past 10 days.
Bar soaps, products with Sodium Laureyl Sulfate (SLS) and mineral oil as well as petroleum based product. Will all contribute to your tan fading more rapidly. Avoid long hot baths and exposure to chlorinated water. Any skin care products with Alpha Hydroxy, Glycolic or Salicylic Acid, Retin-A and Retinol will fade your tan more quickly as well.
The Elos Plus is a state of the art Syneron Candela medical grade laser—also known as the complete aesthetic workstation that uses a combination of optical energy with bi-polar radio frequency for safe and effective treatments on all skin types. The Elos Plus has many different applicators that can treat a wide variety of client’s needs. The Motif Vantage applicator is used for laser hair removal and achieves permanent hair reduction of pigmented and minimally pigmented hair on all skin types. Through a combination of (electric) Diode and (RF) radio frequency energy, the Elos Plus Motif is able to treat targets with lower optical absorption ( i.e. light hair & collagen). If it’s your first time getting laser hair removal, here are a few pointers before you head to your appointment at Elegance Sculpting. For optimal results and to avoid the possibility of hyperpigmentation it is recommended you keep the area that will be treated out of direct sunlight for one to two weeks before your first treatment. Prior to your appointment, shave the area you desire to treat—this allows the laser to not target the visible hair but the actual hair follicle below the skin. Avoid waxing, tweezing or plucking the hairs prior to your treatment, that way the laser can target the hair follicle and prevent future grow back.
After your Elos Plus laser hair removal treatment, the treated skin may feel sensitive, warm and slightly irritated. These mild side effects quite common and will be gone within 24 hours of your treatment. Ensure the treated skin stays out of direct sunlight and avoid procedures such as microdermabrasion, exfoliating or the use of harsh products that may irritate the area. Clients can expect hair growth will decrease within the four week span of their approximately six treatments. During this time you can shave your hair, but do not pluck, wax or tweeze your hair as the hair follicle is most important part in this clinical procedure.

By the end of your sessions, you are left with only permanently smooth skin.
Results are typically permanent, however after a full treatment has been completed you may want an annual session to maintain the quality of results. This highly depends on your hair colour and density of hair.
